Passin' Thru continued James Gang's dry period, as the band suffered
from a dearth of memorable songs and Troiano exhausted his supply of
guitar licks. Troiano left after the release of Passin' Thru and was
replaced with ex-Zephyr guitarist Tommy Bolin, who helped revitalize
the band.
