The news that IrelandÆs The Answer are to open for none other than AC/DC on
their forthcoming Black Ice tour of the U.S. underlines the incredible progress
made by the band.
Following the launch of their debut album Rise in 2006, they were quickly
heralded as the 'best new UK band' by Classic Rock magazine. Rise was declared
the 'best debut album of the decade' by Kerrang.
Supporting AC/DC will take the band to New YorkÆs prestigious Madison Square
Garden for two nights, November 12 and 13, 2008. It will also see them
performing at The Forum in Los Angeles on December 6. To warm up they will
headline their own mini tour starting the last week in October. It will be the
first time that America has the opportunity to see the band in action.
The Answer are a hard rocking band from Downpatrick, Northern Ireland. Their
progress has been rapid to say the least and they have already opened for
legends such as The Rolling Stones, The Who, and Aerosmith. Meanwhile they have
headlined shows across Europe, Japan, and Australia where Rise sold over a
hundred thousand albums alone.
More good news follows with the release of the bandÆs four track, two disk,
EP/DVD set Never Too Late. The bad news is that it doesnÆt officially land until
November. So I highly recommend you get to see them either on their own tour or
with AC/DC. If you do, you will see a truly exceptional band in the mold of
everything that pure, original, classic, heavy, blues based rock should be.
The title track of the Never Too Late EP is from Rise. It therefore acts as a
perfect introduction for those that missed the excitement surrounding the
albumÆs original release.
It also includes the blues drenched ôDoctorö which only appeared on the two disc
bonus release of Rise. The EP ends with an excellent live version of ôCome
Follow Meö, recorded in Japan, the studio version of which, was on the album.
There is also a brand new track ôHighwater Or Hellö from a forthcoming second
album due early, 2009.
The EP comes with a generous hourÆs worth of sensational video on the DVD
section. Tracks included here are, ôNever Too Lateö, ôBe What You Wantö, ôUnder
The Skyö, and ôCome Follow Meö. There is also some tour footage appropriately
accompanying ôLet The Good Times Rollö before it ends with ôKeep BelievinÆö.
There are also band interviews with singer Cormac Neeson, whoÆs great voice was
just made to rock, guitarist Paul Mahon, bass player Micky Waters, and drummer
James Heatley.
If you donÆt know The Answer yet, you should. WhatÆs more, you will. If you are
in the States grab Never Too Late. It will have you thirstily ordering Rise and
eagerly waiting for the new album, due early 2009. If you have heard Rise get
this anyway. The DVD section is a huge swaggering endorsement heralding The
AnswerÆs arrival in America and is more than worth the money alone.
In true rock tradition, The Answer have worked their way from blowing the froth
off your beer in small seedy pubs to the Madison Square Garden. With rock like
this they deserve every moment of it. ItÆs not often bands of this calibre come
along. So donÆt dare miss it. After all, they're The Answer.
