The first disc consists of new material while disc two is a live album. The new studio material finds many of the old UFO sounds and trademarks, but is perhaps a bit rawer, both in terms of production and performance. In many ways, the new tracks feel a lot like they might have been leftovers from the previous CD, the brilliant Walk on Water. This one should certainly please longtime fans of the band, but probably is not a good introduction to the group. The lineup this time out is veteran drummer Aynsley Dunbar, guitar hero Michael Schenker, and vocalist Phil Mogg.

There#39;s not a single origina! l riff on all of their first full album, Nobody Said It Was Ea! sy, mind you, but the band#39;s raunchy guitars and gritty delivery make up for this in spades. And had he not been arrested seemingly every six months for one misdemeanor or another, outlaw frontman Frank Starr may have even challenged Axl Rose for his quot;king of the bad boysquot; crown.br br Starr#39;s whiskey and broken glass vocal style literally ignites the album#39;s best moments, including the title track, quot;Can#39;t Stop Rockin#39;,quot; and the incredible quot;Rockin#39; Is Ma#39; Business.quot; And while quot;Hot Head lifts its main riff directly from AC/DC#39;s quot;Rock#39;n#39;Roll Damnation, quot; the slightly more original quot;Tired Wingsquot; actually received some MTV rotation thanks to its mellower Southern rock vibe and slide guitars. br br Rounded out by the easy strut of quot;Moonshine, quot; the all-out fury of quot;Lookin#39; for Trouble, quot; and the lazy jamming of quot;I Need a Thrill/Somethin#39; Good, quot; this album scores low on originality, but hig! h on honesty and charisma. Five years on from their simplistic but infectious retro-rock debut, they#39;d been dropped by Def American, been abandoned by their main songwriter guiding force in founding guitarist Haggis, and, most heartbreaking of all, lost drummer Ken quot;Dimwitquot; Montgomery to a drug overdose. As the band#39;s last remaining original members, it came down to guitarist Dave Lizmi and troubled singer Frank C. Starr (more on him later) to assemble a new lineup and attempt to shoulder the load themselves on the snidely named Gettin#39; Pretty Good at Barely Gettin#39; By. And they did an OK job.br br The album still featured much of the Four Horsemen#39;s stripped-down, hard-rocking style, but standout cuts such as quot;Hot Rodquot; and the poignant quot;Song for Absent Friendsquot; generally lacked the Southern Skynyrd flavor, and especially the power boogie AC/DC crunch of old. ! Instead, the album mostly resorted to a mellower, more soulful! , decide dly sleeker Black Crowes-type groove for tracks like the title song and quot;Drunk Againquot; (note background lady singers). A few songs also forced the quot;we#39;re still rockin#39;#39;#39; storyline ad nauseam (see cheesy opener quot;Still Alive and Wellquot; and the edgier, frankly biographical quot;Back in Business Againquot;), while others simply lacked originality (for example, quot;Livin#39; These Blues, quot; which apes the debut#39;s hit, quot;Tired Wings, quot; a tad too closely).br br Still, the fact that#39;s it#39;s clearly inferior compared to its predecessor shouldn#39;t entirely detract from this album#39;s good-time blue-collar rock amp; roll, and fans of the Horsemen will likely want to give it a chance anyway. Sadly, Gettin#39; Pretty Good at Barely Gettin#39; By proved to be the final musical testament for singer Starr, who passed away under tragic circumstances a few years later. :D br br div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px" div style="margin-bottom:2p! x"Code:/div hrcode style="margin:0px" dir="ltr"br /codehr /divdiv style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px" div style="margin-bottom:2px"Code:/div hrcode style="margin:0px" dir="ltr"Pass: tiger/codehr /div/div
