The first disc consists of new material while disc two is a live album. The new studio material finds many of the old UFO sounds and trademarks, but is perhaps a bit rawer, both in terms of production and performance. In many ways, the new tracks feel a lot like they might have been leftovers from the previous CD, the brilliant Walk on Water. This one should certainly please longtime fans of the band, but probably is not a good introduction to the group. The lineup this time out is veteran drummer Aynsley Dunbar, guitar hero Michael Schenker, and vocalist Phil Mogg.

There#39;s not a single origina! l riff on all of their first full album, Nobody Said It Was Ea! sy, mind you, but the band#39;s raunchy guitars and gritty delivery make up for this in spades. And had he not been arrested seemingly every six months for one misdemeanor or another, outlaw frontman Frank Starr may have even challenged Axl Rose for his quot;king of the bad boysquot; crown.br br Starr#39;s whiskey and broken glass vocal style literally ignites the album#39;s best moments, including the title track, quot;Can#39;t Stop Rockin#39;,quot; and the incredible quot;Rockin#39; Is Ma#39; Business.quot; And while quot;Hot Head lifts its main riff directly from AC/DC#39;s quot;Rock#39;n#39;Roll Damnation, quot; the slightly more original quot;Tired Wingsquot; actually received some MTV rotation thanks to its mellower Southern rock vibe and slide guitars. br br Rounded out by the easy strut of quot;Moonshine, quot; the all-out fury of quot;Lookin#39; for Trouble, quot; and the lazy jamming of quot;I Need a Thrill/Somethin#39; Good, quot; this album scores low on originality, but hig! h on honesty and charisma. Five years on from their simplistic but infectious retro-rock debut, they#39;d been dropped by Def American, been abandoned by their main songwriter guiding force in founding guitarist Haggis, and, most heartbreaking of all, lost drummer Ken quot;Dimwitquot; Montgomery to a drug overdose. As the band#39;s last remaining original members, it came down to guitarist Dave Lizmi and troubled singer Frank C. Starr (more on him later) to assemble a new lineup and attempt to shoulder the load themselves on the snidely named Gettin#39; Pretty Good at Barely Gettin#39; By. And they did an OK job.br br The album still featured much of the Four Horsemen#39;s stripped-down, hard-rocking style, but standout cuts such as quot;Hot Rodquot; and the poignant quot;Song for Absent Friendsquot; generally lacked the Southern Skynyrd flavor, and especially the power boogie AC/DC crunch of old. ! Instead, the album mostly resorted to a mellower, more soulful! , decide dly sleeker Black Crowes-type groove for tracks like the title song and quot;Drunk Againquot; (note background lady singers). A few songs also forced the quot;we#39;re still rockin#39;#39;#39; storyline ad nauseam (see cheesy opener quot;Still Alive and Wellquot; and the edgier, frankly biographical quot;Back in Business Againquot;), while others simply lacked originality (for example, quot;Livin#39; These Blues, quot; which apes the debut#39;s hit, quot;Tired Wings, quot; a tad too closely).br br Still, the fact that#39;s it#39;s clearly inferior compared to its predecessor shouldn#39;t entirely detract from this album#39;s good-time blue-collar rock amp; roll, and fans of the Horsemen will likely want to give it a chance anyway. Sadly, Gettin#39; Pretty Good at Barely Gettin#39; By proved to be the final musical testament for singer Starr, who passed away under tragic circumstances a few years later. :D br br div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px" div style="margin-bottom:2p! x"Code:/div hrcode style="margin:0px" dir="ltr"br /codehr /divdiv style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px" div style="margin-bottom:2px"Code:/div hrcode style="margin:0px" dir="ltr"Pass: tiger/codehr /div/div

Û
Û Few bands warrant, let alone deserve, a three-volume retrospective. Rush,
Û however, make the case. As a concern, Rush are still going strong -- perhaps
Û stronger than ever as a live attraction -- and their studio albums in the
Û 21st century have been as heavy as anything they've ever cut, and very
Û consistent in terms of quality. Rush have issued many compilations, but this
Û makes three that bear the title Retrospective. The first volume covered the
Û years 1974-1980, which addressed the period between their self-titled debut
Û long-player and Permanent Waves; the second covered 1981-1987, bookmarked by
Û the recordings Moving Pictures and Hold Your Fire; and this set covering
Û 1989-2007 tracks the full-lengths Presto through Snakes & Arrows. Taken as a
Û whole, these three CDs provide an excellent overview of a band that has
Û continued to develop its sound, push its own boundaries, and remain timeless
Û without concessions to trends or music biz nonsense. This third volume is on
Û its surface the most unspectacular of the three, but appearances -- in this
Û case at least -- prove deceptive. Arranged aesthetically rather than
Û chronologically, Retrospective, Vol. 3 has been assembled to play through as
Û an album. There are two tracks from each of the seven albums documented here,
Û including "One Little Victory" and "Earthshine," both from the acclaimed
Û return to hard-edged rock of Vapor Trails in 2002. In addition, there is a
Û live version of "Ghost of a Chance," from 1991's controversial but underrated
Û Roll the Bones. But what really transpires through this listen is the feeling
Û that Rush are still very much a band; they reached the end of a lull only to
Û get hungry again, reached for a new zenith, and shook off the complacency of
Û their position as a ponderous and progressive veteran stadium juggernaut. In
Û turn, they became a taut, wily rock & roll band again, putting on epic shows
Û and creating thought-provoking, ass-shaking hard rock records. This is the
Û latest evidence. Here's hoping there is a Retrospective, Vol. 4.
Û
Û Enjoy.
Û
Û Don't forget to support the artists! We did.

By comparison, guitarist Pat Thrall had worked on several albums with Automatic Man and Pat Travers. Thrall had come to Hughes' attention while he was trying to write new material in Los Angeles. The two got together and quickly struck up a working partnership. The result was the Hughes/Thrall album. Hughes/Thrall mar! ks a return to hard rock for Hughes, the album itself has a de! finite A OR sound, but with influences of new-wave and post-punk. Thrall makes good use of guitar synthesizers and many have cited the album as being quite influential to the direction of rock music in the 80s and it was critically well received upon its release. However, despite the positive reception from critics the album failed to sell well at the time. It has since become something of a cult album. Along with Hughes and Thrall the album also featured keyboardist Peter Schless and drummers Gary Ferguson (who went on to work on many of Hughes' albums in the 90s and 00s), Frankie Banali of W.A.S.P. and Quiet Riot fame and prolific session player Gary Mallaber. The album was co-produced and mixed by Andy Johns, who had previously worked with the likes of Led Zeppelin, Free and The Rolling Stones. The song Coast to Coast had originally featured on the T ze album You Are the Music...We're Just the Band; the version on the Hughes/Thrall album is similar in arrangement to the original! . Promotional videos were shot for the songs The Look in Your Eyes and Muscle and Blood, these received some airplay on music channels at their time of release. In January 2007 the album was reissued. This new version featured the original album, fully remastered as well as two bonus tracks, both outtakes from the original sessions. The first bonus track, Still The Night originally featured on the first Phenomena album, which featured Hughes, but not Thrall, another version appeared on the John Norum album Face the Truth, again featuring Hughes. This is the first time the original version has been released. An immediate follow up to the Hughes/Thrall album was planned and some tracks were written and demoed, however the project did not go any further and the album was scrapped. In 2006 it was announced that a follow-up album was being written and recorded and is due for release in 2008. ............. Friggin dogs bolox this is :woop: :thum: Code:Code: Pass: tiger

UFO - UFO (UFO 1) 1971-1999 flac+cue+art | 251 MB RS | Remastered For diehard UFO fans, this is the begining of the band, and the start of a hard rock story that endures to this day. This album is a product of the times in which it was created, the echoes of the sixties were fading, and the violence and upheaval of the seventies were on the horizon, and UFO was there to create some sounds that were different than the peace and love era, and a preview of things to come. With the first incarnation of this band, they delivered some solid tunes, "Timothy" is a great tribute to the orginal guru of the acid days, "Boogie" is a solid rockin tune as well, all the songs are cool, and this is a must have album for the collector, and a good intro to the band before they became the icons of the area shows of the seventies during the Michael era. Give it a listen, and turn on, tune in, and drop out back to a time when the winds of change were a coming.

Part: 2 : Ufo - ufo (ufo 1) 1971-1999

Steppenwolf - Steppenwolf 7 Original Recording 1970 FLAC+cue+log | Cover Art | 233 MB RS | 3% Recovery| Source - My House "Steppenwolf 7" is pretty trippy for hard rock but remember this is at the height of the drug counter culture. Steppenwolf recorded seven discs for Dunhill Records in the short span between 1968 and 1971, six of them studio albums, and one allegedly "live", though there was early Sparrow material recorded in May of 1967 not released by the label until 1972. Throw in a greatest-hits package along with Columbia's reissue of yet more Sparrow recordings, and how they came up with Steppenwolf 7 for the title of this, their fifth studio recording for Dunhill, is a question for hardcore fans of the band to debate (don't even bring the movie soundtracks into this equation).

That other group brought you the clean retail or
something earlier yesterday, and we bring you the
explict retail today. If you don't know who
Damageplan is, read on:
'When we first started putting this band together,
we knew we were going to have to get a kick ass
vocalist,' says Vinnie. Enter PAT LACHMAN former
HALFORD and DIESEL MACHINE guitarist. 'We tried
several people, and they just weren't working out.
Patrick was traveling to back and forth to Dallas,
and during this time, he had formed a friendship
with Dime. The two were hangin' out, listenin' to
jams, and drinkin', when Dime played him the new
music we had been workin' on. Pat was blown away
and immediately expressed interest in being part of
the band, but Dimebag had the guitar already
covered, so when Pat said he wanted to sing they
were totally surprised.
Dimebag recalls how Lachman proved his vocal
prowess. 'We gave him a track and he went back to
L.A. and just killed it. He Fed Ex'd it to me and
Vinnie and we put an ear to it that night...and it
crushed! So we gave him a few more tracks and he
kept fuckin' killin' 'em. The key was, he had that
aggression, which has always been crucial to what
we do, but at the same time, we love a fucking
melody, and Pat can bring that too. His style is
very diverse. Vinnie and I have always been about
the 'Power Groove', as well as good songwriting.'
Pat says he was very cautious, at first, stepping
up to the plate with two members of a group that he
had grown up with. 'At first it was a little
intimidating, but the personal relationship I had
with Dime relaxed me a little bit. There was also
that mutual respect on a professional level. I
think with good singers, your musical roots have to
be there, and the fact that I played guitar also
helped. They knew I was coming from solid ground.'
Patrick's musical influences are very broad, from
Pink Floyd to Meshuggah. Born in Portland, Oregon,
he started playing guitar and writing songs at the
age of twelve. When he was twenty years old, he
relocated to L.A., where in addition to his work in
Diesel Machine, he wrote and recorded 3 albums with
Rob Halford, and also collaborated with Tommy
Victor. Now he finds himself in Texas where he has
found his true calling... as the voice of
Damageplan.
New Found Power is indeed a fright-gallery of
scorching, molten hard rock masterpieces, from the
crushing eye-opener 'Wake Up,' to the thankfully
self-explanatory 'Fuck You' - 'the people who think
that song is about them know who they are,' says
the ever-quotable Dimebag - to the relentless crank
of 'Blunt Force Trauma.' But the boys do expand
their musical palette. You can hear the difference,
even in the gradations of dynamics in a song like
'Reborn' or the feverish 'Crawl'. 'That was one of
the first songs Pat attacked,' says Dime. "He
wanted that to be the first, because he felt there
were so many ways he could express his vocal
ability.' As Pat states, 'That song was important;
it was an open playing field. I could show what I
could do in a variety of ways. It was the one that
enabled me to put my foot in the door and make sure
it didn't slam shut in my face.'
Dime and Vinnie also approached their craft
slightly differently on the Damageplan debut. 'Of
course, we did our usual thing where we just jammed
with a fucking hangover,' says Dime. 'But we also
trusted our chemistry so much, that we made
individual pieces that we each could put our own
vision to.' Vinnie elaborates, 'Dime would lay down
five to ten riffs and I'd go in and do my thing,
just to see where it would go. There was an
incredible amount of freedom. It was cool to
interject on top of one another like that, and
bleed off each other as a part of the creative
process. We'd never done that before.'
To add the final completion to the plan, Bob Zilla
was brought into the fold. As Dime informs us, 'We
really wanted a true bass player with a monstrous
sound. We had seen Bob play in various local bands,
along with various styles of music. We knew he had
the diversity, and he still had the same heavy
influences we had grown up on, not to mention, he's
one hell of a tattoo artist too. So he was our
first choice to audition. He came down to the
studio one night, and after we jammed a few songs
together,' Vinnie says, 'Man, dude sounds like
Godzilla comin' outta that rig!' Henceforth, he
would be notorious, as 'Bob Zilla.'
Born in Waikiki, Hawaii, Bob Kakaha grew up in
Southern California, where his mom raised him on
Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin. He
started playing drums at age 14, but picked up the
bass shortly after. 'I played in a band with my
brother for awhile, other than the backyard
keggers, we played a gig at the Troubadour when I
was almost 18...I was hooked! My music style is
aggressive and damaging. I wanted to learn as much
music as possible, so I experimented with various
styles while playing with bands in L.A., everything
from death metal to reggae, funk to rock, but my
heart is PURE METAL!!! I'm a huge Maiden fan!'
Eventually moving to Dallas, Zilla explains how he
came to know the brothers. 'Over a period of time,
I had struck up a friendship, as well as a tattoo
relationship with Dime and Vinnie, so when I got
the call, I was honored.' When asked how he feels
about Damageplan, 'I couldn't ask for a more killer
opportunity. Not only were these guys such a great
influence on me musically, but they're also my
friends, and guys I get totally boozed up with.
Something like this only happens to a person once,
if ever, in their career. I feel honored to play
with such awesome musicians. I couldn't be happier
about the entire situation. I have nothing but the
best feelings about the outcome, and with the
chemistry with what we are creating, how can you go
wrong.'
Pat views Damageplan as a natural progression of
the nucleus that made Pantera a legend in the first
place. 'Comparisons are going to come because it's
the evolution of a legacy, even though we're not
trying to be Pantera. We're trying to evolve and do
something different. As Vinnie states, 'We know we
have been very influential on today's music. Bands
tell us all the time how much we influenced them,
so we have that legacy, but at the same time, we
like a lot of the great fucking music that's out
there now, and with Pat and Bob Zilla, we feel
there's nothing we can't accomplish. Dime and I
lived on the road for 12 years. We can't wait to
get back out there. No pun intended - but we want
to unleash some real fucking 'damage' on these
motherfuckers.'
Dimebag, as always, is downright philosophical
about such a protest. 'After kickin' ass for so
long and realizing you're starting over, it re-
energizes you. We know a lot of fucking bands don't
make it past their second record, much less, match
the damage we laid down over the years. And then
when it's over and you've done it - most of the
motherfuckers run from it like 'Goddamn, I can't
believe I'm still alive.' We take the opposite
fucking approach. Like goddamn, we were just
getting good at this... Really motherfucker...we're
just getting warmed up.'
So, I ask you... how can you go wrong with four
badass motherfuckers like Damageplan? The name says
it all...Devastation is truly on the way.

Part: 2 : Steppenwolf - steppenwolf 7 original recording 1970

The technology of studio recordings just didn't do certain bands justice. Then the studio technology caught up and the anticipation surrounding the release of a live album subsided. That is until now... W.A.S.P returns, rocking like never before with their ninth album, Double Live Assassins. With, in my opinion, their best line-up ever. Blackie Lawless on vocals and rhythm, Chris Holmes on lead, Mike Duda on bass, and Stet Howland on the drums. Recorded in Switzerland, Chicago, Cleveland and Los Angeles during the Kill Fuck Die Tour, Double Live Assassins really captures all the excitement and electricity that is a W.A.S.P Concert. I could easily say that anyone who appreciates the spirit of true rock n' roll will, without a doubt, also appreciate this. "You're just looking for a moment to capture, and you just hope the tape machines are rolling when it occurs. I think we got pretty ! lucky. I mean, there's a lot of mistakes on this record, but that's part of it's charm"- Blackie Lawless. As the first track starts spinning you'll immediately hear the rising cheers of the excited crowd. And as usual, W.A.S.P starts off with their ever-changing Medley. On your knees - I don't need no Doctor - Hellion - Chainsaw Charlie (Murders in the new Morgue) is a well-chosen four piece medley because, well, simply put, those songs won't fail in getting the crowd started, that's for sure. There's also no doubting that the musical partnership between Lawless and Holmes is an amazing yin-yang relationship as they constantly feed off of each other while pushing themselves to a new musical limit in this hard rock genre. Then it's on with Wild , probably the album's strongest track, a phenomenal live-version with absolutely great vocals and a killer performance by Mr. Holmes. The album flows with songs from "The Headless ren," "The Crimson Idol," "W.A.S.P (Win! ged Assassins)" and of course "K.F.D (Kill Fuck Die)" with a t! remendou s mixing amongst the songs, including almost all their hits, like Animal, I Wanna Be Somebody, Blind in Texas and the Idol . As for notice, Blackie and his men have chosen to take some of the industrial edges off the K.F.D songs, which cleary makes the songs much more characteristic, and by that, much better. However, the introduction of the song "Mean Man" (Dedicated to Holmes) almost itself makes this album a somewhat privilege, you'll have to hear it by yourself as a nice extra that'll make the album slightly more enjoyable than it would have been without it. Metal mayhem :bravo Code:Code: Pass: tiger

Jorn Lande is considered by such famed artists as Ken Hensley, Glenn Hughes and Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), plus many others to be one of the greatest hard rock and metal singers in the world today. He is known for his powerful, melodic voice, wide vocal range, and for not only putting out album after album from numerous side-projects and bands and as an occasional guest musician, but also for his largely successful solo career. Jørn Lande has performed with bands such as Vagabond (with Ronni Le Tekrø from TNT), Yngwie Malmsteen, ARK, Beyond Twilight, Mundanus Imperium, Nikolo Kotzev's Nostradamus, Millennium, Ken Hensley and The Sna! kes as well as his own self-titled solo effort. He also sang lead vocals on the Norwegian national football team's song for the 1994 World Cup, "Alt for Norge" (All for Norway). More recently, Jørn joined the global metal scene fronting Masterplan, with whom he released two albums. In 2005, Jørn also teamed up with Symphony X vocalist Russell Allen on the album The Battle, and their following album, The Revenge, released May 11, 2007. In 2007, Jørn Lande lent his voice to the Ayreon album 01011001 and the latest Avantasia album The Scarecrow, both being released in January 2008."
